Each month, UUCWC celebrates a theme with opportunities for you to deepen your connection within, among and beyond our community

The theme for this month is “Embracing Possibility”.

Here are some ways to become a part of something larger this month:

If you are looking for deepening within, as you Celebrate Life  

  • Vespers: April 15: 7-8pm: This contemplative, music-filled service is an opportunity to care for your spirit, slow down the noise of the world, and just be. Join others in the sanctuary or online.
  • Sunday, April 26 – Sunday Family Fun – Every fourth Sunday, there will be an opportunity for Family Fun! Meet us in Room 102 during coffee hour!
  • Sunday Service Reflection: Every Sunday from 11:15am – 12:30pm in room 202 and online – Join Linda Hahola for a facilitated conversation about the Sunday morning service.
  • Lectio Divina (Reading Poems Prayerfully), weekly on Thursdays, at 10:00am. 
  • Connect, Reflect, and Grow in a Monthly Small Group! You are invited to join a chalice circle at any time during the year. For more information, click here.

If you are looking for opportunities among others, as you Create Community

  • Saturday, April 11, 8 PM, Cosmic Crossings, an electronic, ambient, space, and experimental music concert series featuring Darkest Dungeons, Retribution, and Izolat.
  • Sunday, April 12, Craft Circle, after service, Rm 203, Bring a craft and make some friends.
  • Socratic Group, April 14, 1pm, in-person,  Begun as part of ROMEOs but open to all, this group discusses a philosophical, ethical, or cultural/political question chosen at the time by those attending.
  • Outdoor Adventures Hike, Saturday, April 18 in Trenton, meeting 11:30 AM. Join the UUCWC Outside Adventures hike on April 18th in Trenton, NJ.  We will walk along the D&R Canal from Lower Ferry Road to Cadwalader Park and then up to the Ellarslie Museum. Meet at the Lower Ferry Road parking lot next to the canal path near the Trenton Country Club. Parking is limited at that location so please consider carpooling. RSVP: outdooradventures@uucwc.org
  • Sunday, April 19: The Auction Kick-off Party tickets will be on sale along with distribution of the auction booklet! If you need any help with registering for the online auction, that is also the time to get our help. See Auction personnel in the lobby after the service and get a preview of raffle baskets, too!
  • JULIETs Luncheon, April 21, 12 noon, at the Continental Tavern in Yardley PA.  Please reply to julietslunch@uucwc.org by April 17 if you’d like to attend.
  • ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) Luncheon April 21, 12 noon – location TBD.  To RSVP and for more information, email: romeos@uucwc.org.
  • Affiliated with the auction, the Boutique will start on Sunday, April 26 after the service! Check out the bargains for jewelry, small home accessories, scarves, wallets, etc!
  • Tending the Flame, every 1st Thursday at 7:30pm. Join the monthly spirituality of parenting group, hosted by Rev. Kim, February 12th from 7:30-8:30 on zoom.
  • Friday Night Sing-A-Long, every week with a different theme at 8pm on Zoom**.  The Weekly Announcement email has details.

If you are seeking ways in and beyond our walls to Change the World

  • Sunday, April 12 and Sunday, April 19: The next food drive sponsored by the Food Ministry will be to benefit the Hopewell Valley Mobile Food Pantry.  HVMFP provides groceries and fresh produce to over 200 neighbors experiencing food insecurity. Please consider bringing any of the following items with you to church on Sundays April 12th and 19th.  We can’t accept glass jars or items past their expiration date.  Thank you for your support of our community food pantry!
    • Donations Needed:
      • Personal care items (such as toilet paper, soap, skin lotion, toothpaste and toothbrushes)
      • Shelf-stable milk (such as Parmalat)
      • Low sodium soup
      • Flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda
      • Cooking oils 
      • Mayonnaise
      • Salad dressing
      • Spices
      • Healthy snacks and treats (such as trail mix and nuts)
      • Whole grain cereals and oatmeal
      • Peanut butter
      • Low sodium canned chicken
      • Canned fruit in juice (not syrup)
  • UUCWC Book Discussion – NJ Reparations Council Report, April 16th at 7pm (in person or online) Join us for an in-depth discussion of this critical report. Use this link to access the report. This is a long-term project – come discuss our potential contribution as individuals and as a faith community in the journey.  PA residents are encouraged to attend and learn how your state can also move forward with this work.   • April 26: Watershed Institute, after the service, the Watershed Institute will visit UUCWC to monitor our water quality and take biological samples.
  • Weekly Protest in Hopewell Borough: Every Thursday, 5:30-6:30pm, corner of Greenwood Ave and Broad St. UUCWC members are there every week!
