It has been an exciting few weeks at UUCWC, especially having kicked off two services and the Middle Hour with the recent Committee and Ministry Fair! The Middle Hour is an opportunity for both first and second services to gather for community, spiritual deepening, and the work of the church. Already we’ve had the Multigenerational Choir meet during Middle Hour as well as a non-partisan Voter Registration opportunity that will continue in the weeks to come. This Sunday, October 8, you can meet with members of the Board of Trustees to ask questions, offer feedback, or just spend time getting to know the leadership at UUCWC. This Sunday is also the kick off of the program Faith Forward.
Faith Forward is a fifty-minute program that is offered every single Sunday for every single participant (visitor, member, friend), during Middle Hour that aims to integrate members; facilitate growth, faith development and leadership development. Here is what you can expect:
Over the course of 8 sessions, beginning this Sunday, October 8th, through November 26th, (and then starting up again in December), any person can drop in during the Middle Hour for a facilitated conversation on UU History, Principles and Sources; a Q&A with the Minister; an overview of Social Action & Community Service; and an exploration of Faith Development for Children and Adults, to name only some. This is a time, not only to learn more about how we do church, but to spend time with those who are leading these ministries or committees. For the full schedule, see below.
For folks interested in becoming a member, two of these eight sessions will be required in order to sign the book. The other six, plus an in-depth Roots class taught by me, will be highly encouraged. Of course, even if you’re already a member, you’re more than welcomed to attend these sessions, too! Some of the best conversations we’ve had during the last three years of Roots and Wings, has been when a long term member has joined visitors and learned something new; has shared his or her experience as a member of UUCWC; has connected with those who are exploring.
We hope that this new schedule, and an opportunity to go deeper into any one of these topics, will help the entire congregation feel more connected to the philosophy, work, and people of this congregation. This Sunday, Faith Forward begins with a Tour of UUCWC. Even if you’ve been a member for 20 years, I assure you, you will learn something about this place we gather in each week.
All Faith Forward sessions begin in room 103. Grab a coffee and quick bite and join us!
