Foundational Stories

Wouldn’t it be handy if we had a common set of stories that we could count on most Unitarian Universalists knowing? It could be great shorthand, similar to how Christians can say “sow your seeds in the good soil,” and most will understand the reference to the gospel of Matthew and the instruction to put our energy into things that will have meaningful return. Rev. Kim shares some of her top UU stories; not about UUism, but stories that reflect our teachings and theology.

August Theme: Story
Our lives are not just made up of stories; they are are also made by stories. This might be the most important reminder of this month. Indeed, who of us hasn’t felt controlled by a story? Stuck in a story? Hopeless about the way our story will end up? Simply put, stories write us as much as we write them.

This sermon was delivered in two parts; there will be a small delay in between sections.
