Humanism Circle
The Humanism Circle approaches humanism from an educational and exploratory perspective. It focuses on an examination of religious and supernatural claims, ethical behavior, rationalism, science and scientism, skepticism, and free thinking along the lines of inquiry similar to those followed by the Council for Secular Humanism, American Humanist Association, and the International Humanist and Ethical Union.
NonViolent Communication Circle
Join us on the first and third Tuesdays of each month as we learn and practice Nonviolent Communication (NVC). NVC is a communication tool different from others. Beginning with the assumption that we are all compassionate by nature and that violent strategies - whether verbal or
physical - are learned behaviors, NVC helps us connect with the life energy in ourselves and others. NVC is an easy to grasp, effective method to get to the root of violence, pain and conflict peacefully. In this circle, we aim to build a shared foundation for much more satisfying relationships, deepen our sense of personal empowerment and communicate more effectively.
Sustainability Circle
The Circle engages in a variety of activities to support and encourage a more environmentally sustainable lifestyle among UUCWC members and friends. These include sponsoring Fair Trade organic coffee, cocoa and chocolate sales, and bi-monthly used book sales to raise money for sustainable church projects. The Green Sanctuary Committee was formed out of the Sustainability Circle for the purpose of obtaining Green Sanctuary certification from the Unitarian Universalist Association under the 7th Principle Project.
