Staying Connected While Staying Close to Home

Although we are each staying close to home, I want to help you stay connected with each other. Listed below are some ways you can stay in touch with UUCWC virtually.

If you want to connect with people in a small group that offers honest reflection and deep listening without small talk, I recommend joining a chalice circle. See https://www.uucwc.org/learning/adult-learning-classes/ for more information.

If you participate in a small group ministry, a ROMEOs group, or any other gathering with UUCWC people, I hope you are making arrangements to meet virtually and perhaps more often.

For families, I host two weekly parent check- ins and four weekly children/teen gatherings. Contact me at dre@uucwc.org for Zoom invitations. The schedule is as follows:

  • Pk- 1st grade: Friday 11:30am – 12noon
  • 2nd-5th grade: Wed 11:30am – 12noon
  • 6th-7th grade: Tuesday 11:30am – 12noon
  • 8th-9th grade: Sundays at 12noon.
  • Parent check-in and support: Monday 8:30pm and Friday 9:30am

A few years ago, I was reading a blog of a well-known Christian church consultant and she was asked: “Where is the church going to be in 50 years?” Her answer was succinct: “On the internet.” I’m not sure if what she says is true, but I do know that COVID-19 has thrust us into being an online church community. As UUCWC continues to experiment with programs, groups and worship services online, I expect that as we slowly lift shelter in place rules and are back to meeting face to face, we will continue with our on-line programming too.
