June is fast approaching, and UUCWC is preparing to attend this year’s General Assembly (GA) in Baltimore, Maryland—a gathering that promises excitement and milestones for our congregation. Our own Rev. Lisa Schilansky will process on stage during the Service of the Living Tradition, and Director of Family Ministry Julie Rigano will present the “Story for All Ages” during the Sunday service broadcast at 11 a.m. on June 22.
Nine UUCWC congregants plan to attend, six of them delegates who will represent UUCWC by voting on key matters such as the election of a new moderator and Actions of Immediate Witness.
Know Your Delegates
Jen Couchoud: Member since 2019, first GA.

“I look forward to deepening my involvement and connection with UUism beyond our walls. Also, I’m looking forward to learning about the UUA, doing justice work together, and being with like-minded people.”
Wendy Stasolla: Member since 1997. 1st GA.

“I’ve heard so much about the amazing energy of the attendees coming together from across the country. I’m looking forward to attending the sessions and learning what’s happening in our faith at the National level.”
Heather Edwards: Member since 2007. Sixth GA, first in-person.

“I’m always inspired by hearing from UU leaders across the country and being part of the important work of the UUA, as well as bringing back to UUCWC what I’ve learned and what inspired me. This year, I am also looking forward to experiencing the UU community that is created by an in-person experience, and especially to meeting other trans/non-binary UUs.”
Bernice Husk: Member since 2007. 9th GA.

“GA is a great experience. The worship services are inspiring, the workshops are amazing, and the delegate work is very rewarding. Being in community with thousands of like-minded people is certainly uplifting. As Kathy Frey says, ‘There’s nothing better than standing in an arena with thousands of UU’s singing ‘Blue Boat Home!’”
Christa Olson: Member since 2007. First GA.

“Attending GA this year is a dream come true. I have always been intrigued by the UUA and its role in supporting individual congregations. Being part of a larger denomination and engaging with other UUs from other congregations feels very important in these times. I welcome feeling the power of connection and community through attending GA.”
Jim Sanders: Member since 1990. 22nd GA.
“I return year after year to maintain my connection, learn something new, and be a part of the greater good. I continue to look forward to the energy of needed rebellion, and caring for the underserved, working towards correcting the inequities in society.”
Our six delegates will be joined by UUCWC congregants Kathy Frey and Michelle and Klaus Zechner. There’s still time to attend. Want to know more about your denomination? Contact me at DA@uucwc.org.
