The Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing, Titusville, was recently featured in UU World, the magazine of the Unitarian Universalist Association, highlighting its partnership with the Trenton Microloan Collaborative (TMC), an initiative dedicated to supporting formerly incarcerated individuals and returning citizens in Trenton and surrounding areas. TMC provides
microloans and services to entrepreneurs who have been in business for at least two years, demonstrate fiscal responsibility, possess a passion for their craft, and contribute to the local community. TMC was founded in 2018 by the Westminster Presbyterian Church (Trenton) and Nassau Presbyterian Church (Princeton).
UUCWC has made two grants of $6000 each, one in 2025 and one in February 2026; the funds have been allocated into six microloans of $2000 each. The funds provide zero-interest loans, accounting assistance, and ongoing support to local entrepreneurs. The funding is made available through UUCWC’s Council for Faith in Action’s Community Outreach Fund, which dedicates 50% of Sunday service financial offerings (Sunday plate collection). UUCWC strives through its mission and vision to celebrate life, create community, and change the world. Among its principles, members covenant to affirm and promote journeying toward spiritual wholeness by working to build a diverse multicultural Beloved Community by our actions that accountably dismantle racism and other oppressions in ourselves and our institutions.
