Capital Campaign Update – June 2022

Status: Contractor bids for the smaller-scale architectural plans for the UUCWC renovations came back surprisingly higher than expected, and in some cases, higher than the original, larger plans. We have negotiated with the bidders and have selected a contractor. An announcement will be made once all parties have been informed.

Hopewell Township will require full review of the new plans. We have engaged civil engineers and attorneys to move forward with getting the required approvals.
Latest plans and schematics are posted on the church website at www.uucwc.org/giving/capital-campaign/.

Timeline: The contract proposal and budget is expected to be shared with the Board sometime in June in a joint meeting with the Capital Campaign Team. A Congregational Meeting will be scheduled soon afterward in which we present the plans and seek approval for the budget. Upon approval, we would then engage the contractor and complete permitting within 4 – 6 weeks. Groundbreaking could then begin in fall 2022. The sanctuary will be accessible throughout construction.

Financials: Funds raised so far include $1,096,291 in Capital Campaign pledges. Approximately 85% of that has been collected. Expenses have totaled $285,278 on parking, permits, fees, and architectural and engineering services. Pledge collections are mostly tracking according to commitments. THANK YOU!!

PLEASE, if you have not yet had a chance to contribute, consider making a capital campaign contribution. We will need everyone’s participation to realize this vision in support of our goals to Create Community, Celebrate Life, and Change the World!
