Morrisville Food Pantry Volunteer Help Needed

Looking for a convenient volunteer opportunity? The food pantry (“Food Center”) at the Morrisville Presbyterian Church (MPC) needs some additional volunteers. Several of us already help out at this interdenominational endeavor. But we could use more help, especially from people who can lift cases and boxes of food, sometimes weighing 30 pounds or more. The Food Center could use help during any of the following weekly activities:

  • Tuesday mornings to help with unloading mainly produce from a Philabundance truck delivery and placing it in MPC’s basement fellowship hall, using carts and an elevator.
  • Tuesday mornings to alternate with George Faulkner and Steve Saddlemire in picking up donated boxes of food from the Morrisville Giant (anytime between 8 and 9:30am) and dropping it off at the Food Center. We get anywhere from 1 to 10 boxes of food, so having at least a small SUV or minivan is best.
  • Wednesday mornings to help hand out food to 60 – 120 families. Volunteers are needed to help the clients go through the line and then carry bags of food out to their cars in the parking lot. Plus there’s a big need for about 30 minutes of help picking up once the food center closes to clients at noon
  • Fridays (and sometimes Thursdays or Mondays) as a back-up helping George and others either picking up food at local Aldi and Dollar Tree stores, or occasionally helping unload large deliveries on Monday mornings.

For more information, please contact George or Linda Faulkner by phone or email (contact info in the church directory).
