Celebrating Our Connections Through UUCWC’s 2024 Online Auction

by Barbara Drew, Co-chair, Auction Committee

UUCWC has been hosting the annual Auction for more than thirty years. It’s a tried-and-true event, but it’s never tiring to support the church through our collective innovation and fun ideas. Once again, we invite you to explore the many reasons to contribute an item, event, service, craft, or gift card to support our community and participate in the bidding and purchasing during the auction event. Examples of the items you could offer, bid on, and purchase follow each of our top ten reasons for joining in the 2024 Auction, Celebrating Our Connections, from May 5 through 11.

Auction offerings are a great way to get to know others and to stay connected. (spirituality workshops, meals, small social gatherings, recreational and cultural outings, games, skilled services, and hand-made items).

It is “better to give than to receive.” Through the spring auction you can give and receive. (yard clean-up, handyman services, custom foods, new or like-new household Items and more) Submit your Contribution form by Sunday, March 31.

Auction proceeds support the annual operating budget and help us to support social justice programs after our targeted amount is met. UUCWC’s Council for Faith in Action has designated the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK), a nonprofit that feeds the hungry and offers programs and services to encourage self-sufficiency and improve quality of life for people in the Greater Trenton Area, as this year’s recipient.

The Auction provides opportunities to learn or hone new skills or crafts. (knitting lessons, tai chi, yoga, card-making, games and more).

You could support local businesses by contributing a gift card to the auction. (Cattani’s Catering & Kitchen, Bowman’s Tavern, Lambertville Station and others).

The Auction has many great meals and custom-prepared specialty foods available. (steak, seafood, Octoberfest, soups, Italian dishes, vegetarian/vegan dishes, breads, and more).

There are bargains. The auction offers something for everyone, in every price range. Some items and events have fixed prices; others require competitive bidding.

Check off your bucket list. The Auction provides opportunities for that cultural experience you have always wanted to try, like the Philadelphia Flower Show, local art museums, nature preserves and much more. Where would you like to go?

You make a difference by participating whether as a donor or as a purchaser/bidder. Last year’s auction raised more than $39,000 in proceeds. We need your help to make this year’s auction successful and welcome you to experience the event.

The Auction is fun! Bidding and purchasing is convenient and accessible to all through an online auction, beginning on Saturday, May 4, at 9:00 a.m. and continuing through Saturday, May 11, at 9:00 p.m.
