UUCWC Welcomes New Minister for Justice and Pastoral Care

The Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing, Titusville, N.J., welcomed the Rev. Lisa Schilansky as its new minister for Justice and Pastoral Care.

Schilansky joins the Rev. Kim Wildszewski, senior minister, to share in the pastoral care needs and social justice work of the congregation.

In addition to assisting Wildszewski with Sunday worship and administrative responsibilities, Schilansky will collaborate closely with the congregation’s Council for Faith in Action, UUCWC’s umbrella ministry for the congregation’s work in racial justice, environmental and climate justice, social justice, and food insecurity.

Prior to her ordination, Schilansky completed an 18-month internship with UUCWC, where she worked closely with UUCWC’s social justice ministries. During her internship, Schilansky also started a monthly multi-platform Wednesday night Taizé Vespers service that offers participants an hour of music, readings, and quiet reflection. Wednesday night Vespers will continue monthly with Schilansky.

Schilansky holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Denison University with a dual focus on vocal music performance and playwriting and a Master of Social Work degree from Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.

She has been a social worker for the past 13 years, currently splitting her time between the church and working as a therapist serving primarily LGBTQ young adults.

She received her Master of Divinity in 2023 from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities in St. Paul, Minn.

Schilansky was raised secularly Jewish and now considers herself dual faith. She lives in Philadelphia with her spouse, Molly, and their cat Belle.

UUCWC is located at 268 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, Titusville, N.J. UUCWC is ADA-accessible. All are welcome.
