All Souls: Courage to Grieve (When You Have To)

Rev. Kim offers this service on the monthly theme of Courage. Guest musician Lorenzo Raval (viola) joins Erin Busch (piano) for today’s music.

Praised for his “beautiful tone” and “exceptional quality of nobility in his playing,” Filipino violinist and violist Lorenzo Raval is acclaimed for his versatility and dedication to the numerous aspects of his instruments – as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestral player, and teacher.

Lorenzo can be heard on the 2018 GRAMMY-Winning recording of Lansing McCloskey’s Zealot Canticles with Donald Nally and The Crossing. He is also an active freelance performer in the Philadelphia area, and a dedicated teacher, maintaining a private studio in South Philadelphia.

Born and raised in Quezon City, Philippines, Lorenzo received his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from the Boyer College of Music and Dance at Temple University. Prior to his move to the United States, he attended the University of the Philippines and was also a scholar at the Philippine High School for the Arts. His major teachers include Alfonso Bolipata, Helen Kwalwasser, Che-Hung Chen, and Odin Rathnam.
