By Pam Shadzik, Chair, and Martha Bell, Congregational Engagement Ministry
Every Sunday, we are reminded that “Today would not have been the same if you hadn’t chosen to be here. ” Your connections to this loving congregation begin with your presence. If making that hour happen is all you can manage, it is enough.
But if you’re ready and able for more, you may have wondered where to find more information about volunteer needs and opportunities in our congregation. So much happens within and outside our walls in Titusville—trying to figure out where you can best fit in can be overwhelming.
That’s why we’re introducing this standing section in the CrossCurrents newsletter. Every month, we’ll highlight a ministry, event, or committee at UUCWC. We’ll also post news about upcoming volunteer opportunities in the weekly announcements. We hope these updates will help you find what you’re looking for!
Here are some steps to take when you’re ready to deepen your friendships and connections to “your people” here at UUCWC:
- To get oriented, go to our recently updated page at uucwc.org/let-your-light-shine-at-uucwc/. There, you’ll see a graphic that shows how UUCWC’s mission can guide you in choosing the level of engagement you’re ready for.
- Use the information about the general areas you might want to try out and news about upcoming opportunities in the weekly newsletter to connect with the ministry, committee, or event planning group that most attracts you. If you need more guidance and information, email us at congeng@uucwc.org. We’ll set up a conversation to help you find a good fit.
Remember, your first choice may not satisfy you. So, view helping with one task or joining a ministry event as an exploration, not a contractual obligation.
