INFORMATION ABOUT THE CLINIC

Hackensack Meridian Health Carrier Clinic is a leader in the mental health field and serves individuals with acute and severe mental health crises and/or substance abuse issues (click here to learn more). Many of their patients rely on donated clothing and shoes, as they have no belongings or support systems that can provide these items during their hospitalization or after discharge. Each unit has a community closet of donated clothing and shoes for patients to use as needed. The access to clothing other than hospital scrubs helps restore patients’ dignity and is greatly appreciated, while the majority of clothing donated to other places like Goodwill ends up in landfills or is sent to developing countries to be sold as scrap, disrupting the local textile businesses.
