Outdoor Adventures Hike at Herrontown Woods in Princeton

Our next Outdoor Adventures hike will be on Sunday, November 16, at Herrontown Woods in Princeton.

This is a relatively easy hike through broadleaf forest with a lush undergrowth of ferns, wildflowers, and native and other plants. There are quirky and magical stops along the way featuring botanical art, a historic house with a connection to Albert Einstein, and a barn with a ping-pong table! Boulders along the way signal the start of the Sourland Mountains. Many of the trees along the trails are marked for identification.

The walk will start at 1:30pm, and we can try to arrange carpooling from church, leaving at 12:30 to account for any traffic. For directions, use “600 Snowden Lane, Princeton, NJ 08540″ as your destination. (For Google Maps, use “Herrontown Woods, Princeton, NJ” for directions to the main parking lot.)

There are a few ways to get to Herrontown Woods. Here is one route from downtown Princeton:

  • Heading north through downtown Princeton along Nassau Street, make a left onto North Harrison Street.
  • Continue north out of town past the Princeton Shopping Center. Take a right at the first light just beyond the shopping center onto Terhune Road.
  • Continue on Terhune Road for about a mile to a stop sign at the intersection of Snowden Lane. Take a left onto Snowden Lane and continue about a mile to the entrance to Herrontown Woods, which will be on your left.

A trail map can be downloaded here.  Read more about Herrontown Woods here.
