Capital Campaign Project Update

by Jayme Trott, Co-chair, Capital Campaign

On October 16, the congregation voted to move forward with the Capital Project, including incurring mortgage debt up to $400,000, should it be necessary. The Steering Committee will notify the selected contractor and ascertain when construction can begin.

In the meantime, our attorney and our civil engineer will present the updated site plans for zoning approval. Although we were approved with the previous (larger) design, the newer one requires full review. Following zoning approval, Hopewell Township will review the architectural plans for building permits.

The latest Capital Project plans and schematics can be found here.

Timeline: We hope to formally engage the contractor before year-end. Permitting should be completed by the end of January 2023, and ground-breaking is likely in early spring 2023. The sanctuary will be accessible throughout construction.

Financials: Funds raised so far include $1,100,200 in Capital Campaign pledges. Approximately 86% of the pledged amount has been collected so far. Expenses have totaled $292,278 for parking, permits, fees, and architectural/engineering services. Pledge collections are mostly tracking according to commitments – THANK YOU!! We will work with the Finance Committee to determine the optimal timing for our Phase 3 Capital Campaign, but you don’t need to wait! PLEASE, if you have not yet had a chance to contribute, consider making a capital campaign pledge or one-time contribution. We will need everyone’s participation to realize this vision in support of our goals to Create Community, Celebrate Life, and Change the World!
