Langston Hughes, in his poem “Let America Be America Again” written in 1935, described America as the “land that never has been yet—And yet must be.” How might we as UUs embrace our call to social justice action that acknowledges both the unfulfilled reality of our aspirational ideas AND the prophetic imperative to bring into being a more just and loving world?
