Helping Each Other Love Each Other Well: Sexual Ethics as a Community Conversation

Jon Carl Lewis offers an invitation and a challenge to communities of faith to engage in imaginative, visionary dialogue that empowers, encourages, and celebrates their members so that they can make individual sexual and relational choices that are appropriate for them, life giving in their particular context, and which bear good fruit for the flourishing of their communities and all Creation.

Jon Carl Lewis is a candidate for the Master of Arts in Public Ministry at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary with a concentration in gender and sexuality. Highlighting a justice-based approach to sexual ethics and offering the tools of discernment and contemplation he employs in his practice as a spiritual director, he hopes to encourage progressive communities of faith to more fully engage in dialogue (both internal and with our larger society) that empowers individuals to make sexual and relational choices that lead to human flourishing, not only in their personal lives but for all their relations, their communities, and all Creation.
