The following is a description of all ongoing opportunities to Create Community, Celebrate Life, and Change the World here at UUCWC:

Friday Night Sing-A-Long Group: weekly virtual sing-a-long Fridays at 8pm, lead by Greg Pontier and Nancy Neff.  All attendees are muted but Greg and Nancy can be heard! Link to zoom and to lyrics in weekly email.

CLUUSTERS Biking Group: monthly easy-paced bike ride along local trails, often followed by lunch.  Contact Steve Saddlemire to be added to email list.  

Sunday Outdoor Adventures: local hikes that are usually family friendly and all abilities.  These take place once a month on Sunday afternoons.  Information will be in the weekly or contact:  outdooradventures@uucwc.org.

Vegetarian Potluck: A group that meets occasionally for potluck vegetarian meals.

JULIETs: (Just Us Ladies into Easting and Talking) gather for lunch every third Tuesday of the month at a variety of area restaurants in both NJ and PA.  JULIETS invites all cis and trans women to attend who are comfortable in a space centering women’s issues. Hosted by a different congregant each month; information in weekly UUCWC email.

ROMEOS: (Retired Old Men Eating Out) gather for lunch every third Tuesday of the month at a variety of area restaurants in both NJ and Pa.  Hosted by different congregants each month; information in weekly UUCWC email or at romeos@uucwc.org.

Socrates Tuesday: a group that delves into philosophical questions that often have no definitive answers or consensus. Attendees can propose topics via email before each session, but the final selection is made collectively after a brief check-in. Discussions have spanned diverse subjects, including moral values, religion, human nature, democracy, and truth claims. Socrates Tuesday meets in person only on the second Tuesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:30 PM, in Room 202 at the church.  The group is open to everyone.  Contact George Faulkner or Ed Dobrowolski for more information or to be added to the email list.

Science Circle (formerly “Natural Cosmology”) is a drop-in evening discussion group that meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month from 7-8:30pm.  The discussion focus is on recent developments in the sciences, medicine, climate change, and technology, plus broader philosophical and ethical issues.  We discuss articles that are provided in advance and/or watch and discuss videos on these topics. Generally we meet just by Zoom. Contact George Faulkner or Ed Dobrowolski to receive the Zoom invite and to be added to the email list.

Twenties and Thirties Group is open to all people in their twenties and thirties who are connected to the UUCWC community. This group gathers about once/month and builds connections with each other at church and beyond. If you are interested in learning more, please email Noah Lee or Bina Shaikh. 

80’s Group for those in their 80s and beyond to connect online or in person. For online group, contact  Ivan Winegar and Al Migdal.  For in person group, contact Ron Iannacone.

Visitor and Newer Member Gathering Following Sunday Service: During coffee hour, Congregational Engagement hosts a smaller gathering in the conference room downstairs next to the kitchen, where all visitors and newer members are encouraged to stop by for quieter conversation. This is a great opportunity for connection. Children are welcome in that space as well.

Post Service Reflection:  Do you wish for a space to continue reflecting on the Sunday service? Perhaps an easier way to make connections with other members and friends? Join Linda Hahola and/or Rab Bell each Sunday for a time to reflect on what was meaningful, challenging, joyful, or hopeful about the service. Room 202 and online in a designated breakout room. All are welcome!

Tending the Flame: This is a small group for parents held on Zoom the second Thursday of each month from 7–8 PM, facilitated by Rev. Kim. It is a time of reflection and sharing between people who are actively parenting. No need to sign up—you are free to attend whenever it is convenient. You can join here.

Chalice Circles: A Chalice Circle is a monthly small group of about 8 members who deepen their spirituality and connect through reflection, sharing, and listening. Each Circle follows a consistent format using the monthly theme to help members connect with their true selves, each other, and the greater source of which we are a part. UUCWC has 6 Chalice Circles, including one for LGBTQ+ folks. Circles meet in the evening on Zoom and in person during the day. Contact Rev. Creativity Matters: Creativity Matters groups are similar to Chalice Circles, but approach the monthly theme through art or other creative media. Third Wednesday evenings on Zoom, and daytime class forming. Email Rev. Kim at minister@uucwc.org , to find out more. 

UUCWC Craft Circle:  Come as you are and bring any portable craft you’re currently working on. Whether it’s needlework, journaling, sketching, or another creative practice, we’d love for you to share in a relaxed time of creativity and community. Children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult.  Participants can bring your own lunch and, if they’d like, a snack to share. Meets once a month on the 2nd Sunday after service, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Room 203).

Lectio Divina, Reading Poems Prayerfully. Every Thursday, Rev. Kim offers 30 minutes of guided reflection using a poem. No RSVP needed; meets every Thursday from 10:00-10:30am.  Zoom link in weekly emails.

Pastoral Care Ministry

If you are in need of a meal or ride, our Pastoral Care Ministry provides this and more to members and friends in need. We are also always looking for more folks to provide those meals, rides, and other resources.

Transportation Fundraising Program

A group of UUCWC members/friends have volunteered to drive people to/from the Philadelphia and Newark airports, as well as Trenton and Hamilton train stations. Instead of paying Uber, Lyft, or airport transport, the fee goes to the church as a donation– a win/win for everyone!

We always need drivers! You’ll have the opportunity to meet new people AND raise funds for the church.
