UUCWC Is Seeking a Church Administrator

Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing, a progressive, inclusive and engaged multi-platform congregation. Our Unitarian Universalist congregation is explicitly (if imperfectly) anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, and theologically diverse.

BRIEFLY ABOUT UU Washington Crossing A great deal of information is available on our website, but briefly, we are a congregation of approximately 350 Unitarian Universalists. We have a full-time minister, and part-time directors of congregational life, family ministry and music. Additional support staff include part-time office assistant, controller, AV/Tech and sexton.


Is responsible for coordinating and directing the administrative, facilities and operations functions of the church including office administration, communications and human resources. Supervises the work of the Office Assistant and Sexton. Prioritizes outward and inward facing relationship building.  This is mostly an on-site, in-person position, with some regular remote work possible.

We are excited to meet a candidate with strong communications and management skills to meet the diverse needs of our church’s work.  This full-time, exempt position reports to the Senior Minister. 


Salary range is $48,500 – $52,000; health benefits, Long Term Disability, paid PTO


General Administration: 10%

  • Provide administrative support to the Minister, Board and Stewardship Committee, including monthly operations reports, statistical information on attendance and membership and other metrics.
  • Oversee function of the office, including maintenance of church files and records, maintaining office equipment, setting office procedures.
  • Manage postal mail, main church email, answers phones; oversees scheduling of church rooms and zoom meetings.
  • Information technology: ensure ongoing maintenance and updating of information systems and equipment.

Managerial/Human Resources: 5%

  • Supervise office assistant, Sunday Steward/Sexton.
  • Create annual agreement letters following budget approval.
  • Maintains personnel files.
  • Assist with onboarding of new staff as needed.

Financial: 5%

  • Acts as agent for church by reviewing and signing leases and contracts that do not require Board president, etc. (ex. lawn mowing service).
  • Promote and manage rentals and create rental contracts.
  • Negotiate leases on office equipment as needed; make all purchases for church committees as needed if approved in budget.
  • Create and manage budget for areas of responsibility.
  • Use ICON database to input pledges and maintain pledge files, issue quarterly and year end statements, create reports for Stewardship on pledges, and other administrative support.

Facilities: 35%

  • Manage day-to-day usage of the Church building and grounds, including janitorial, security, maintenance, and logistics for regular and rental use of church, and coordinates recurring maintenance.
  • Schedule and oversee all building inspections (ex. fire, elevator, water testing).

Membership:  25%

  • Acts as System Administrator for Membership database (ICON).
  • Prepare and submit UUA Certification annually in consultation with Minister and Controller.
  • In consultation with Sunday Steward, purchase Fellowship Hour goods and supplies.
  • Maintain all lists and databases including UUA World magazine member, email list.

Communications: 20%

  • Maintains church website using WordPress, updating content weekly/monthly/as needed. Uses website to create online forms used by committees.
  • Support healthy communication and right relationships between the church and its constituencies, including neighbors, vendors, committees, members.
  • Contact people internally and externally about church services, rentals, meetings, etc. 
  • Prepare/oversee all internal communications, Church Directory, and other. communications as needed. Consultative support on CrossCurrents electronic newsletter.
  • Oversees administration of two church FaceBook pages.
  • Prepares informational packets for Annual Meeting.


  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals – in person, over the phone and in writing. 
  • Ability to attend to a broad variety of administrative tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Supervisory skills. 
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in Google Admin and Google Drive, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher), WordPress, Zoom. Also, knowledge or a willingness to learn ICON, Canva, photo-editing software, Google Forms, and more is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy and attention to details. 
  • Must be able to manage processes.

COMPENSATION: $48,500 – $52,000 per year, exempt, with benefits

WORK HOURS: This is a full-time position that allows for some remote flexibility.
