The Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing will host a reading of I Am Jazz, a book by transgender teen and Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation Youth Ambassador Jazz Jennings, on Thursday, February 27th from 5:00 PM- 6:00 PM in the church’s Crossings Room. Members of the community are welcome to attend. Three inclusive picture books will be read and discussed. Pizza will be served. Please contact UUCWC’s Director of Religious Education, Robin Pugh, 609-737-0515 or dre@uucwc.org with questions.

The fourth annual Jazz and Friends National Day of School and Community Readings is sponsored by the Welcoming Schools Program at the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, and the National Educational Association (NEA). The readings bring parents, teachers and community members together to stand in support of transgender people. This year, participants will have the option of reading from several books about transgender and non-binary youth of color, including Julián Is a Mermaid by Jessica Love and They She, He Easy As ABC by Maya Gonzalez and Matthew Sg.

HRC’s Welcoming Schools has created a guide to help organizers of I Am Jazz reading events build more affirming and supportive spaces for transgender and gender-expansive youth across the country.
