Food Ministry Update – Sept 2020

Mike Muccioli and the UUCWC Food Ministry team

The UUCWC Food Ministry is continuing to fulfill our mission through these trying times. Not being able to use the UUCWC kitchen made us have to rethink our processes and we have found a few solutions.

Each month the food ministry is providing Luther Arms (low income seniors many with disabilities) with meal bags. The bags consist of a shelf-stable entree, fruit cup, granola bars and oatmeal packets. At this point well over 300 meal bags have been distributed to the Luther Arms’ residents.

The Roland Rahn Memorial Fund has provided financial donations to several organizations in the past few months. A $400 donation was sent to El Centro in May and TASK received $400 in June. Two churches that are part of the ESL program that UUCWC’s Faith Action Ministry is working with have also received donations. In July, Rev. Stephen Bryant of the St. James AME Church and Pastor Olga Sanchez of the Living Water Pentecostal Church each received $200.00 to assist their community with food related assistance. The August donation of $400 was sent to HomeFront. Chris Marchetti and the Joy, Hopes & Dreams program have developed pop-up camps for the children housed at local hotels. The funds are donated to assist in providing meals for the children. The Food Ministry has also donated all of our non perishable food stock to the HomeFront pantry.

We would like express our sincere appreciation to all that have donated to our efforts. Please continue to help with your generous financial support to ensure that your Food Ministry will continue to have a positive impact on our community.
