Calling Community Volunteers! Information Needed!

by Sallie Dunner, Chair, Council for Faith in Action

Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless.” – (Sherry Anderson)

The living tradition of Unitarian Universalism calls some of us to participate or volunteer in local community organizations and causes outside of church. UUCWC has a long tradition of members giving their time and talents to community and service organizations and there are others who would like to do so but aren’t quite sure what would be the best fit for what they can offer.

While it’s easy for interested folks to find information about organizations with which UUCWC is actively involved such as HomeFront, the Morrisville Food Center or TASK, we know there are other organizations or activities where our congregants volunteer and about which we know nothing but which could be of interest to others in our church community.

To assist folks in finding opportunities outside of UUCWC, the Council for Faith in Action plans to put together a resource directory of local organizations where people can volunteer and we need information and input from people who are already participating in such activities. If you are one of these, please contact cfa@uucwc.org and let us know about the organization(s) you work with and what you do. If you are willing to be a contact person for anyone who might be interested in the organization, please let us know that as well, otherwise all information you provide will be anonymous.

We think this directory will be invaluable to our church community and we look forward to hearing from you. Any questions or concerns can also be directed to cfa@uucwc.org.
