Kirkridge: Face to Face: The Original Social Network
Aug 24th, 2011 • Category: News & EventsWe have chosen the theme for this year’s Kirkridge retreat: Face to Face: The Original Social Network of the Spirit. Planning for the event continues as we choose workshops, all-day activities, services, and — of course — food.
Kirkridge is a nondenominational conference center in Bangor, Pa. It is on a mountain that sits adjacent to the Appalachian Trail, near the Kittatiny Ridge. UUCWC members and friends have participated in the annual Kirkridge retreat for 29 years. This is a special weekend of relaxation, rejuvenation, and fellowship, and you can be as active or contemplative as you choose. Those who have participated in the past have said, “The mountain knows what we need,” the “mountain works its magic, time and again” and “The mountain is sacred.”
Kirkridge is a beautiful rustic retreat center with breathtaking vistas and wonderful hiking areas. It is near Columcille, a Celtic outdoor sanctuary preserved through a land conservancy, providing participants with the opportunity to meditate and look inward in its sacred spaces and chapel.
This year’s retreat will take place the weekend of Friday, October 14 through Sunday, October 16. There will be programs to calm your spirit, allow inward reflection, and energize your life, plus plenty of good food and laughter in the company of friends. The facilities reserved for UUCWC can accommodate a total of 43 overnighters. Daytrippers are also welcome to participate in Saturday’s activities, which end with an evening program that is not to be missed! look for program updates in the coming months.
If you have ideas for workshops, or would be interested in leading a workshop, please let a committee member know.
Plan to join us as we meet Face to Face: The Original Social Network of the Spirit. The Kirkridge Planning committee will be working hard to make this year’s retreat the finest yet, so mark your calendars and plan to attend — especially if you haven’t yet experienced Kirkridge. You can download a registration form or look for a form in the church lobby.
