You Don’t Want To Miss This!

January 2010 was a full and exciting month at UUCWC. I am excited by and pleased with our Sunday services. They have been well attended. We have enjoyed wonderful music from many sources — our expanding Crossing Chorale under of Caryl Tipton, our director of Music Ministry; Diane Debnarik, our accompanist; the singing Pontier family (Greg, Jacob, and Peter); Barry Hillman; and uu4ia. We had an inspiring First Sunday speaker, Michael Dalzell, and a visit from Mrs. Googles, who came to find out about her friend P.T. Barnum. There has been the regular participation of our wonderful worship associates, sound technicians, ushers, greeters and those who provide food and beverages for our social time. And the preaching hasn’t been half bad.

There is so much contributed behind the scenes to create our services of worship and our quality religious education classes for children. Being a vital faith community doesn’t just happen. There are many meetings and even more phone calls and e-mails by members of the board and our many committee members to make sure that things run smoothly.

It is exciting for me to participate and lead the services on Sunday, knowing how many people are making sure that everything is happening in the best possible way. It is gratifying to see so many members, friends, and visitors attending our services and religious education classes. Attendance has been high, participation has been robust, and the enthusiasm has been contagious.

So if you haven’t been attending regularly the past month or so, come and see what you have been missing. If you have been attending and would like to become part of those who help lead our worship services or religious education classes, let me know. Something I learned early in my ministry is that those who participate regularly end up getting the most satisfaction out of their experience.

February is upon us, and with it, many new opportunities await you. I challenge you to select something at UUCWC that you think
you might enjoy doing and sign up soon.
