UUCWC’s Creative Connections: Knitting Dolls for UUSC
Jan 29th, 2010 • Category: Committee News, Council for Faith in Action, News & EventsShare on Facebook
Creative Connections have been making dolls to be sent to children in developing countries. Theri first batch went to Malawi in August. Since then, Nichole Cirillo of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee (UUSC) has carried a second batch of dolls to India. Recently, she wrote to us: I delivered your lovely dolls to Astha, which works to help advance women’s issues. Ginny, who runs the program, said she will use the dolls to keep on hand for the children of these women to help keep them entertained when the women are busy on their projects. She said they will even be helpful in enticing the children to go to the office, so that it’s less of a fight for the moms!
It would be great to have more people involved in this good project. You don’t have to come to Creative Connections but you’re surely welcome. They meet the second and fourth Wednesdays from 10:00 am to noon in room 103 or you can work on the dolls on your own time. The pattern is quite simple. Please contact Bonnie Ruekgauer for more details.
