Can the achievement of peace in the Middle East be found in the heart of Islamic, Christian, and Jewish traditions? This is one question to be considered at “The Role of Faith in Middle East Peace,” Sunday, May 3, from 2 to 6 pm, at Temple University. The event is sponsored by Interfaith Community for Middle East Peace (ICMEP), in collaboration with the Dialogue Institute at Temple University.

ICMEP is formerly the Delaware Valley Interfaith Delegation to Israel/Palestine, the peacemaking mission in which Rev. Charles Stephens participated last year.

Rabbi Menachem Froman, from Tekoa, Israel, and Sheikh Ghassan Manasra, from Nazareth, Israel, will gather at Ritter Hall, Walk Auditorium [room 131], (corner of Montgomery Ave. and 13th Street), to gain an understanding of the role faith plays in achieving peace in the Middle East.

Efforts to finance this forum will be underwritten in part by the $10 adult and $5 student ticket fee. UUCWC’s Council for Faith in action has made a donation to ICMEP toward the expenses for this event.

ICMEP’s mission is to advance relationships among faiths by providing information through open forums that explore the beauty inherent in the three Abrahamic faiths (Christian, Jewish, and Muslim) and their common goal of peace. ICMEP seeks to build relationships by enhancing personal and congregational understanding among faiths, and promoting action toward the realization of
Middle East peace.
